What BrightChecks does
BrightChecks is an identity verification platform used by accountants, company secretarial teams and ACSPs to manage identity verification in a compliance-focused workflow . It supports:
- centralised verification tracking
- real-time verification status updates
- audit-ready recordkeeping
- identity verification linked to incorporation and appointment workflows through Inform Direct
When a check is sent through Inform Direct / BrightChecks, the individual receives an email from Credas and completes the check through the BrightChecks process powered by Credas .
Photographic ID documents for biometric checks in BrightChecks
For biometric identity checks completed through BrightChecks using Credas, customers should be asked to use a photographic identity document supported by the Credas biometric journey.

UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and EU photocard driving licence (full or provisional) | Yes |
Identity card with biometric information from the EU, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein | Yes |

Best practice for customers
Where possible, ask the customer to use a passport first on the Credas mobile app.
BrightChecks uses Credas for biometric verification, and the underlying check includes document verification, biometric comparison and cryptographic checks aligned to the Companies House standard used by ACSPs .
If the customer does not have a passport, they should use another supported photo ID from the list above. If they have no form of photo ID an ACSP is not able to verify them. Companies House allows them to verify using banking/financial information on the Gov One service.
The ACSP remains responsible for ensuring the check has been completed correctly and that it meets the Companies House standard .
